IKOI STRENGTHENS ITS PRECIOUS METALS VALUE CHAIN WITH THE ACQUISITION OF OPI
IKOI S.p.A., global leader in technologies for the precious metals industry, today announced the acquisition of OPI S.r.l.
The acquisition expands IKOI’s capabilities with a dedicated Refining division, complementing its established Foundry and Casting portfolio and enabling the Group to serve customers as a single, end-to-end partner across the entire precious metals value chain.
A COMPLETE, THREE-STAGE VALUE CHAIN: FOUNDRY • REFINING • CASTING
With OPI now part of IKOI, customers can design and operate fully integrated production lines covering every macro-phase of precious metal production:
• Foundry — solutions for primary melting, vacuum distillation and continuous casting for mining, upstream operators and circularity recycling flows.
• Refining — OPI’s advanced engineering for Gold, Silver, PGMs and copper refining, recovery and treatment becomes IKOI’s Refining Division, ensuring continuity of technical personnel and an expanded R&D roadmap.
• Casting — production technologies for commodity finished products such as cast bars, minted products, granules and sponges, including rolling mills, presses and thermal furnaces.
This integration positions IKOI as a full-service provider to its core customer base — including large mines and precious-metal bar producers — delivering integrated solutions built on advanced automation, robotics and AI-driven process intelligence, while creating new opportunities to serve all size refiners.
WHAT CHANGES FOR CUSTOMERS
• One partner, one project: centralized project management from concept to commissioning.
• 24/7 global assistance: unified After-Sales and Customer Service for faster response and higher uptime.
• Seamless integration: OPI transitions into an IKOI division, preserving expertise and ensuring business continuity.
“By bringing Foundry, Refining and Casting under one roof, we’re simplifying complexity for our customers and accelerating their path to quality, efficiency and sustainability,” said Michela Ferraro, CEO at IKOI.
“This acquisition is a strategic step that combines IKOI’s pyrometallurgy & automation leadership with OPI’s hydrometallurgy, refining & recovery know-how, enabling us to deliver measurable ESG values from day one.”
