IKOI under the spotlight during the 8th LBMA A&R conference with the innovative AcidLess Separation – ALS® Process
On March, 18th to 20th 2019, in London, the LBMA Assay & Refining Conference took place.
The LBMA brings together most of the central banks, producers, refiners, manufacturers and financial operators, regulating the definition of refining and assay standards. In the March edition of this year, more than 200 industry representatives came from all over the world. Amongst these experts, a delegation from IKOI, led by the President, Mr. Giovanni Faoro.
IKOI presented to the audience the results of a study based on 4 years of experience and research and development using the AcidLess Separation ALS®, with multiple plants installed worldwide using now the vacuum distillation process instead of the traditional ones.
Mr. Faoro explained the results in terms of safety and sustainability as well as the excellent performance in terms of precious metal losses minimization and metal control:
"The key factor in state of the art refineries will be the use of technological solution to improve metal control and minimize unrecoverable metal loss, while using green Technologies to reduce the toll on the environment".
At the end of the presentation, a live interactive survey has been done, asking the audience how much they think the irrecoverable precious metal loss is a state of the art refinery should be.
The majority of the answers indicated a percentage between 0,05% and 0,1%.
Giovanni Faoro explained that the patented Acidless Technology significantly reduce this percentage, making the ALS not only the most sustainable technology but also the most remunerative one.
